Q What kind of programmes do my donations help?
A Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation uses your donations and gifts to help underprivileged children through feeding programmes, outreaches to street children, and emergency and disaster reliefe as well as to pay for the administrative costs needed to ensure that our charity operates at the highest standards, along with supporting vital fund-raising efforts.

Q Where is the money going?
A MTCF seeks to give loving care to the poorest of the poor in our world today. We do this mostly through supporting feeding programmes, children’s homes and orphanages, rescue operations, and community development.

Q Why do charities spend so much on fundraising?
A MTCF knows that the more money we raise, the more we can help suffering children around the world. We spend money on fundraising, so that we can continue to make people aware of the plight of these children, and build up a strong base of supporters who will continue to give to help children for years to come. We see it as an investment in the lives of the children for the long term.
Q In which countries do you assist child care programmes and projects?
A We support programmes to rescue and care for suffering children in many parts of India and Africa, including the devastated countries of Swaziland and the Sudan. Visit our PROGRAMMES page for more information.
Q Can I sponsor a child through Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation?
A No.
Q Can I adopt a child through Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation?
A Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation believes strongly in adoption and many of the programmes we partner with provide children for adoption. However, we are not an adoption agency.
Q Can I volunteer for a Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation overseas projects?
A No, we do not have volunteer opportunities available in our overseas project work. We seek to send as few non-native workers as possible and employ national staff wherever we can. Whenever we do send in non-native workers, they are all qualified and experienced professionals, with specific areas of expertise not available locally.

Q Who’s behind Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation?
A Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation is a not-for-profit charity governed by a local Board of Directors or trustees according to local law. In addition we have various advisory boards that help us evaluate programmes and raise support for specific programmes and projects, as well as govern the operations of programme partner charities in recieving countries.

Q Are you connected with the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta?
A We take no financial or organisational support from the Missionaries of Charity based in Calcutta, India. However, we share the same desire to honour the legacy of Mother Teresa by helping the poorest of the poor throughout the world. By joining us to help rescue suffering and needy children, you are participating in this legacy with us.
Q Who is Sister Myrna?
A As the Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation Advisor, Sister Myrna Velasco is dedicated to carrying on the legacy of Mother Teresa to rescue the poorest of the poor all over the world. Her heart of compassion and selfless service is recognised by all those whose lives she has touched.

Q Does MTCF solicit individuals by email offering employment?
A No. MTCF does not contact people to work for them as check cashers. If you have been contacted by someone claiming to work for MTCF and needing your services, it is a scam and is not authorized by MTCF. We always adhere to the highest accounting practices to protect both our donors and the children we help.
Q What is your legal status?
A We are organised as a charitable, not for profit corporation as defined by local laws and as an NGO (non-governmental organisation) as defined by the United Nations.
Q Will I receive a receipt for my donation to MTCF?
A Yes, we send donation receipts for any gift over 15 GBP.
Q Is my donation receipt tax-deductible?
A Not normally, but you can check with your tax advisor.
Q Are you tax-exempt?
A Yes, we are a tax-exempt organisation. Please be sure to check with your tax attorney for particular questions regarding local laws in your area.
Q How can I remember MTCF in my will or make a bequest?
A Many people want to remember needy children in their wills but don’t know how. Check with your solicitor and ask him to make the Mother Teresa Children’s Foundation a beneficiary of your will.
